All things doggie from the dog-friendliest place on Earth, Huntington Beach, CA. There's a dog cafe, a dog beach, and dog parks, not to mention the perfect climate to enjoy all those things. My husband and I first came to this town because of Fergie (right), our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who loved to chase a sandy tennis ball into the surf, and was a real fan of the Park Bench Cafe in Central Park.
Fergie was a dear, and we wanted her to have a friend, so the word went out, and we rescued Lucy, a Paris Hilton kind of a Cavalier, with a luxury home on a private beach in Newport, but her family didn't like fur (???). She was already six years old when we got her, and they had a 3 year-old child who must have terrorized poor Lucy, because she never, ever trusted little ones. Lucy was basically scared. She was particularly afraid of little wheels, like things a toddler played with (toys, bikes, strollers, etc.)

Lucy would chase kids down the block on their scooters. She looked like a stuffed animal, but didn't like little girls screaming "Oh, how cute" and trying to hug her. Fergie loved it.
